While podcasting is not something that I have been extremely into, it is easy and convenient to find ways to share your podcasts without it breaking your bank. Unit 5 Disc

I was asked to provide my name, date of birth and email address to set up the page. After signing up my page, I was asked information to add friends, interested, activities, family members, work information, and contact information. Everytime I put in an interest such as Pepsi, it would like that page which in turn would learn to live feeds of the product. This information is a melting pot of information, and way to find information.

I believe there is a large potential to misuse information. Anything can be found on the web, whether settings are set or not. I believe people could use contact information to use if not sell for their purpose. Other information such as pictures or work information could always be used against people. I believe pictures have got workers in trouble with their bosses and children in trouble at school.

I believe privacy does not exist on the web or social networks. Privacy is signed away once the user clicks they accept the terms of use. That company can use your information for whatever they would like and not even telling anyone. Using social networks also leaves individuals open to privacy issues because people do get everything they want. Facebook has added many user friendly features as well as added some, and did not tell users when it affects privacy.

What are some benefits and challenges with using a microblog such as Facebook, Twitter, or Linked In, especially as a tool to engage and develop your personal/professional network?

I chose Facebook, because I am an avid FB user.

Benefits:
  • Easy to keep up to date with news, events, issues and groups you care about.
  • Easy to stay in touch with your family; especially out of state or country.
  • Easy to share info with people you may have things in common with.
  • Easy to find info regarding people you may know or want to know.
  • Easy to share pics and blogs with friends and family.
  • Easy to get info out quick to an endless amount of people.

Disadvantages:
  • Info, videos, blogs spread quickly even if you dont want them to.
  • Once on the web, always on the web.
  • Lack of privacy in some cases.
  • Able to be "hacked" by unwanted people or persons.
If you have experience using microblogs, describe how you have used these tools to engage and develop your personal/professional network.

Personal: I have used Fb to connect with old friends from out of state and family out of state. I also use FB to share my photos with friends and family who do and do not use FB.

Professional: I have used Fb to sell artwork I have created and also get exhibition spots at local art events by showing my photos to local art directors.

Some Visual Art Forms (Unit 7 Disc and Unit 8 Podcast)

Some visual art forms are more stimulating to me that others; just as I am sure is the same for everyone else. What one person may feel is stimulating in their mind an development, may be completely opposite of what someone else may thing of the same work. It is said "beauty is in the eye of the beholder", which is true even in art. A piece I find amazing may not appeal to someone else and vice versa. In this post, I will talk about some of my favorite forms of art; which will in no way include ALL possible visual artwork forms. Art in all forms can be further researched at your discretion at the following website: http://www.canleyvale.hs.education.nsw.gov.au/Winning%20websites/art/toa.htm

Abstract Art: A form of art that is in no way representational of a certain thing or person. Abstract art is truly what ever the people viewing the work wants it to be. It can mean anything the viewer can relate with.

Conceptual Art: "Conceptual Art uses elements to suggest deeper thoughts to trigger thoughts in the viewer rather than appreciation of skilled imagery"

Representational: A form of art that shows and represents a specific thing or person, even if it is mythological or un realistic.
Mixed Media: A form of art that uses more than just paint. It is used to help portray something more.
